Day Trip to Savannah, GA from Jacksonville, FL

I think the best part of living in Northeast Florida is how close I am to multiple places. I often take day trips down to Orlando or up to Amelia Island. Asher and I had been planning to take a trip to Savannah and we finally checked it off our list this weekend!

Savannah is absolutely gorgeous and has the best shops, food and atmosphere. It was beautiful weather, 65 degrees with a cool breeze. It definitely felt like fall, which we barely experience in the south.

When we first got there, we stopped to eat brunch at B. Matthew’s Eatery. It was the perfect place to experience Historic Savannah’s southern charm. We ate upstairs in a room with brick walls, wood floors and pendant lantern lights…so cute!

I had the Shrimp & Grits…so yummy! Asher had two buttermilk pancakes with eggs and bacon. The pancakes were amazing, I was so tempted to take one for myself.

After brunch we shopped down Broughton Street. All of the stores were adorable. However, my favorite stop was The Paris Market. The store holds different vendors with a quirky, hip vibe. The layout of the store was so aesthetically pleasing. Not to mention the products were the cutest! They have a little cafe on the main level that has all my favorites…marble tables, macarons, white tile, iced coffee, glass beverage bottles, rose lighting, etc.

Asher got a coke and I got a pink lemonade to go with our macarons. I chose the flavors Cappucino, Salted Caramel and Snickers. The Salted Caramel was to die for! They were so gooey and delicious. The scenery went so well with my new Rebecca Minkoff Bucket Bag that I scored at Nordstrock Rack for  $48!

For the rest of the day, we walked around the streets of Downtown Savannah. We got lost multiple times as there are so many Squares that look the same. Overall, it was such a great experience walking through history and taking in the gorgeous scenery. We even stopped in Chippewa Square, where Forrest Gump’s bus bench scene was filmed!

Asher got me hooked on Land Rover Defenders so whenever I see one, I take a picture. We tried to eat at Leopold’s Ice Cream, which is a favorite in Savannah, but the line was very long. It will be a must stop when we come back. We also passed this gorgeous 1920’s theater, Lucas Theatre.
The architecture in Savannah was so beautiful. It reminded me just how great the South really is. It also made me want a historic home in a southern city even more. A girl can dream!
I hope you enjoyed my first travel blog post!
